RADNOR – Radnor Township and its police department welcomed five new officers and congratulated another for his promotion to sergeant during ceremonies last week.
Probationary Patrol Officers Nick Orliw, Tyler J. Fox, Daniel Stevens, Sean Camburn and James Brawley took their oaths before Judge Leon Hunter during a ceremony inside the township administration building.
Orliw is a graduate of West Chester and Salus universities and a graduate of the Delaware County Community College Police Academy.
Brawley has been a police officer in Haverford Township and graduated from the Delaware County Police Academy. He has been a member of the United States Air Force.
Fox graduated from the Delaware County Community College Police Academy and served in the United States Marine Corps.
Camburn graduated from Gwynedd Mercy College with a degree in Business Administration and has a certification from the Montgomery County Community College Police Academy. He had been a SEPTA police officer for over six years.
Stevens attended Temple University and graduated from the Philadelphia Police Academy. He has served as a Philadelphia police officer for over 15 years.
According to township officials, the new hires will enter a 16-week Field Training Program, which includes policy review, Use of Force training and other training.
During the same event, Officer Stephen J. Ryan was promoted to his new rank of sergeant.
Sgt. Ryan began his career with Radnor Police in 2014 and is a graduate of West Chester University.
Township officials described him as someone who has always continued learning or training.
“As a Squad Leader of the Central Delaware County Tactical Response Team, Sgt. Ryan is currently enrolled in the National Tactical Officers Association’s Command College. During his career in Radnor, he has been assigned as a Field Training Officer, Crisis Intervention Team Member, and a Firearms Instructor. He was joined for the Oath of Office by his wife and children,” Radnor officials wrote in a Facebook post.
Ryan’s father, Joseph Ryan, was also present. He is a retired Chief of the Delaware County Criminal Investigations Division and is currently the manager of Ridley Township.
Sgt. Ryan will be assigned to the Patrol Division and supervise Squad 3.
