King A. Forsyth, born March 24, 1944, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2023, surrounded by family. King, beloved husband of Carla M. (née Gilligan) was born in Portland, ME and was a lifelong resident of Bay Head, NJ.
King will be dearly missed by his daughter Kim Soyka (Ray); granddaughter Hannah Whitman (Corey); great grandchildren Miles and Mae Whitman; his sister Joyce Thorgesen (Gary); his entire Gilligan family; many nieces and nephews and countless friends.
King is predeceased by his brother Greg, his father Jack, mother May and first wife, Maria. King was big-hearted and had the gift of making every guest a welcomed friend. He entertained effortlessly with a passion for eating, drinking, and storytelling.
King enjoyed hunting, boating, skydiving and especially collecting and riding Harleys. He was especially proud to have been the first person to skydive onto the Arctic Circle. He was locally known for his awesome 4th of July fireworks displays. He spent his early career as a shipping broker in New York City and enjoyed travel. King and Carla enjoyed many memorable trips to Greece and Bermuda. He adored his cat, Buddy.
Services were held earlier this week at Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, 812 Arnold Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save Barnegat Bay or the SPCA.
