Valley Forge Audubon Society: Birding through Montgomery Couty Parks

  • Location: Upper Schuylkill Valley Park/Upper East Schuylkill Trail
  • Date: Saturday, May 27, 7:00 a.m.

Wildlife Walk Around

1:00 pm on Sunday April 30th, May 14th, June 25th, July 23rd, August 20th & September 17th

Join Park Staff to take an hour long, guided tour to learn about our resident animals. Visitors will learn interesting facts about each of the animals and how they ended up at the park. All Ages. Pre-registration is required. Weather permitting. Participants should be prepared for sloped/uneven terrain. Meet by the goat.

Suggested Donation: $2 per person

Who Left Those? 

Saturday May 13th at 11:00 am    

Learn about the different footprints or tracks that animals leave behind.  We’ll take a look at the resident wildlife at the park and how their footprints differ. A craft and a short hike to look for tracks will be included in this program. Pre-registration is required; space is limited. Weather permitting.

Suggested Donation: $4 per person

Raving About Reptiles

Saturday June 17th at 11:00 am     

Join us as we share fun and interesting facts about snakes and turtles during a live animal presentation with the resident reptiles at the park. All Ages. Pre-registration is required; space is limited

Suggested Donation: $2 per person

Little Ladybug

Friday July 14th at 11:00 am
Come to the park to learn about this beneficial, beautiful insect, the ladybug. Visitors will learn about the life cycle of this beetle and many more interesting facts. This program will include a craft to make and take home. For children ages 3-7. Pre-registration is required; space is limited. Weather permitting.

Suggested Donation: $4 per person

Butterfly Celebration 

Saturday August 26th at 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

Come and help us celebrate this amazing little insect, the butterfly. This annual program will include information on tagging, feeding and raising butterflies. There will be hands-on activities for the kids and much more. If the weather allows, we will be releasing the tagged monarchs at the end of the program so they can begin their migration south. All ages, registration is not required. Weather permitting.

Suggested Donation: $4 per person

Rowdy Raccoons

Saturday September 16th at 10:00 am

Come and meet the park’s resident raccoons, Wallace and Zorro! Visitors will learn about the diet, habitat and behaviors of this mischievous creature. This event will include a craft to make and take home. For children ages 3-7; Pre-registration is required. Weather permitting.

Suggested Donation: $4 per person

Whooo Loves Owls?

Sunday October 1st at 11:00 am

Visit the park to meet and learn all about the resident owls! Visitors will learn about each of the owls’ characteristics, vocalizations and more. A craft will be included. For children ages 3-7. Pre-registration is required; space is limited. Weather permitting.

Suggested Donation: $4 per person

By The Light Of The Moon

Friday October 20th and Saturday October 21st at 6:00 pm

Enjoy the park at night illuminated by the light of the moon. Visitors will learn all about our nocturnal residents, such as habits, vocalizations and more! Pre-registration is required; space is limited. Weather permitting; dress for temperature and bring flashlights. Participants should be prepared for sloped/uneven terrain. Suggested Donation: $2 per person

Turkey Toms

Friday November 3rd at 1:00 pm

Join us as we take a look at our wild turkey friends. Visitors will learn all about their vocalizations, display behaviors, diet, habitat and more! A hands-on activity and craft will be all part of the fun! All ages. Pre-registration is required; space is limited. Dress for the temperature. Weather permitting. Suggested Donation: $4 per person
