PERTH AMBOY – The city may be getting its second Popeyes restaurant.
Applicant 439 CR Perth Realty LLC is scheduled to present the Popeyes application planned for 437 Convery Blvd. before the Zoning Board of Adjustment on May 11.
The other Popeyes is at 553 Sayre Ave.
Minor site plan approval, use variance, bulk variance and design exception/waiver relief is being sought from the board, according to a public notice. There are no structures currently on the property.
The applicant is seeking approval to build a 1,985-square-foot restaurant with a drive-thru in an area where restaurants with drive-thru service are not a permitted use. The property is located in a special use commercial zone district and neighborhood business zone.

The applicant is seeking a use variance for the drive-thru restaurant as well as a bulk variance for the rear yard setback where 25 feet is required and 16.5 feet is proposed.
The other nearest Popeyes is at 889 St. Georges Ave. in Woodbridge.
