David William Hyde, of Manasquan, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2023 at University of Pennsylvania Hospital with his two loving sons by his side.
David was born in Nyack, New York on December 9, 1958. He grew up in the lovely town of Valley Cottage, New York where he resided with his mother, father and his two older brothers. He attended Nyack High School from 1974-1977, where he played lacrosse and was captain of the hockey team. He also met Christa Michalaros, who would later become his wife and the mother of his two boys. After graduation, David attended SUNY Culinary Center in upstate NY.
For the next 46 years, he worked as a Theatrical Teamster at Local 817 and eventually earned his position as a Teamster Captain. David was known for his outgoing personality and the ability to bring a smile to any room. He was beloved by many; known for his enormous heart and his contagious smile.
He was a devoted father to two wonderful sons, grandfather to a beautiful granddaughter, and dear friend to many. His 46 years in the union were a testament to his work ethic and commitment. He was a gregarious man who loved to tell stories and took great pride in entertaining his friends and family. He loved spending time with his sons where they made countless memories. He loved traveling, scuba diving, fishing, watching the Rangers, and cooking and entertaining for friends and family.
David is survived by his wife, Christa Michalaros Hyde; sons, David Christopher Hyde and Michael Dylan Hyde; brother, Harold Michael Hyde; sister in law, Monika Hyde; daughter in law, Kayleigh Hyde; granddaughter, Hadley Hyde; his soulmate, Victoria Heuser; and his nieces, Kristin Herndon, Michelle Hyde, Erin Callnan, and Kerry Barr.
David was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Hyde; his mother, Marilyn Hyde; and his father, Harold Hyde.
A viewing for David will be held on Tuesday, October 10, 2023 from 2 pm to 6 pm at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road in Brick, NJ. Following the viewing, a celebration of life gathering will take place from 7 pm to 11 pm at the Belmar Fishing Club, located at 100 Ocean Avenue in North Belmar, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10a.m. on Friday, October 20, 2023 at St. Dominic RC Church, 250 Old Squan Road in Brick.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and/or St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in Brick, NJ.
